MERCER, RACEWAY 7, & TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY AGREE TO STANDARDIZED SLIDING-SCALE PAYOFFS FOR FASTRAK LATE MODELS IN 2008
(Pulaski, PA)…Track owners Vicki Emig of Mercer Raceway Park, Ron Nielson of Raceway 7, and Mike Graham & Roger Crick of Tri-City Speedway reached an agreement this week to all offer a standardized, sliding-scale payoff for the FASTRAK Late Models in 2008.
If there are 19 cars or less, the FASTRAK winner will receive $500 with $75 paid for 19th position. If there are 20-24 cars, the winner will take home $600 with $75 paid for 24th. If more than 24 cars show up, the winner will be rewarded $700 with $80 going to 24th. Each position in the $600 and $700 payoff structures are increased per position.
“This is just another positive step for FASTRAK and racing in our region,” stated FASTRAK Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “It’s great to see tracks work together for the betterment of all. Late Model racers at these three tracks will now have standardized rules, payoffs, and the National Weekly Point Series plus be part of the Grand Nationals. We can’t forget McKean County Raceway and Dog Hollow Speedway, who will both enter their second seasons as FASTRAK-sanctioned. They were the pioneers last season establishing a foundation that can continue to be built upon. Dog Hollow has two Northeast Touring Series events on tap in 2008 and McKean once again will hold three including the Touring Series finale.”
The FASTRAK concept uses the nation’s premier full-bodied division- Late Models and puts everyone on a level playing field with competitive and affordable GM 602 or 604 engines and long-lasting Goodyear Tires. All three tracks along with McKean County Raceway and Dog Hollow Speedway will be part of the FASTRAK National Weekly Point Series, which will pay 30 spots and award the champion $10,000. Also, the Northeast Touring Series Champion will receive $5,000. Racers also have the chance to be the 2008 Grand National Champion, which pays a minimum of $50,000 cash and pays down 40 spots.
“I’m real excited about the debut of FASTRAK at Mercer,” acknowledged 10th year owner Vicki Emig, who also serves as the Northeast Co-Director of FASTRAK with Leone. “The response has been tremendous and I think the quality of cars and racers will surprise a lot of people. It will be the first time since 1974 that the Late Models will appear weekly at Mercer. We have two Northeast Touring events scheduled and the first night of the Grand Nationals will also be held at Mercer.”
The FASTRAK Late Models will return to Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio for the second straight year and will headline the track’s racing action. Raceway 7 will also hold a minimum of two Northeast Touring events.
FASTRAK will now have a Sunday night home at Franklin’s Tri-City Speedway giving racers the opportunity to race three nights per week for the first time.
