McKean County Changes FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series From July 28 to August 25; Other Schedule Changes Noted

Pulaski, PA…One day after announcing that the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series would hold an event at McKean County Raceway on July 28, track officials informed the Series today that they would like to reschedule their event to Saturday, August 25 at the East Smethport, Pa. facility.

“McKean was concerned about going head-to-head with a $5,000 to-win E-Mod show and a World of Outlaw Late Model event at two regional speedways,” explained Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “It was a late add as it was and with some of the racers already planning on competing in those events they felt it was in the best interest to reschedule for August 25 to be able to draw an optimum field of cars and fans. McKean has been a big asset to FASTRAK Northeast and the Touring Series and we’re committed to looking out after the best interests of everyone and after examining the options we feel this is the best decision. Both McKean and the Series apologize for an inconvenience this may have caused.”

The 25-lap feature will still pay $1,500 to-win, $150 to-start. “Our last FASTRAK regional show was very, very good,” stated McKean Promoter Ken Leet. “The racing was great; there was practically a blanket over the top six all night. Although John Lacki led all 25 laps, Todd Andrews was basically beside him for 20 of those laps, add in the great races by Dick Barton, Alan Dellinger and Greg Oakes and MCR couldn’t wait to schedule another event.”

In other news, the Touring Series events scheduled for August 5 at Gamblers Raceway Park and August 10 at Freedom Raceway have been cancelled due to internal problems at both facilities. Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio will now hold a weekly-sanctioned FASTRAK event on August 10 and have opted to drop the FASTRAK Late Models from their August 31 card so that their racers can attend the Touring Series event scheduled for Dog Hollow Speedway that night. Raceway 7 will tentatively hold a Touring Series event on September 7 as part of their Fall Classic with details to be released in the future. A Touring Series event may be added on Saturday, August 11 at a speedway to be announced. If the event comes to fruition, information will be released as soon as possible. McKean also announced that they have increased their Friday, September 28 event from the originally announced $2,000 to-win to $3,000 to-win!

Winners thus far on the Touring Series include Dick Barton with victories at Raceway 7, Eriez, and Mercer, John Lacki and Raceway 7 and McKean, and Alan Dellinger at Lakeville. Dellinger is the current point leader in search of the $5,000 championship, which would give him a leg up in the region toward the $50,000 national champion.
